The premise: Homeowners offered the SPIRITS a three-fold investigation into an unknown property -- they recently bought a house. The SPIRITS came before and during construction to see if there were any changes to the house. The SPIRITS will follow up with a post-construction investigation as well. Are there any spirits there? Will the construction project bring them forth?
March 31, 2010:
The Orangewood Project was an interesting look at a control house. The home owners were clients of the SPIRITS with prior investigations at two other locations. The first location was haunted, the second had mild activity. This was the third case site that we worked with this family. The area showed no activity of haunting and the residents did not find anything to be amiss. Thus, the homeowners devised to allow this investigation to serve as a control . We could experiment to determine how the energy transformated within a single property.
The first investigation, prior to construction and house changes, found nothing supernatural. The second investigation, done during construction, showed no true changes to the house energy. No entities were detected. We did note that there were more electronic tools on the property, which is located near power lines and has a higher than average EMF reading. To complete the experiment, the SPIRITS initially sought to investigation the property again within the same year. Somehow, a total of three years elapsed before the team returned. Though unintentional, this did allow the new home owners to settle into the house, finish construction, and make the house their home.
The somewhat later-than-anticipated third investigation was somewhat surprising. Only two members had been on the original two investigations. One was the contact, and thus could not share any information. The other thought that hte property looked familiar but could not figure out exactly why. The house had transformed and physically looked different with the additional construction of a fence build around the outside. The inside had a new layout as well. One of the SPIRITS' sensitives later said that upon walking into the house, she felt nothing. During the investigation, she found very little energy. She reported at the end that she wondered what was going on, and only later was relieved to find that it was a control investigation .
There were a few unexpected results . Though the home owners were hard pressed to fill out even a basic report of activity, there were a couple of areas where activity was sensed. One was the first bedroom, which had originally been part of the living room when the home owners moved in. A sensitive felt the presence of an old woman sitting in the room. The impression of this woman was that she sat and looked out the window, she was homebound, and that she wasn't sure about the changes to the house. The second area was the second bedroom, which is stationed directly beneath a power poll. The EMF in this room was higher than the rest of the house. The third area was the bathroom where one sensitive simply felt uncomfortable. When the team returned to check these areas on the second go-through, nothing was felt in the frist bedroom or bathroom. The only area of uusual energy was the second bedroom where sensitives felt a new energy emerging from a piece of furniture.
The interesting aspects to these three locations provides food for thought. The old woman described in the first bedroom may match with a prior resident of the home. Prior to the current homeowners, the house was bought by a woman for her elderly mother. The mother did not have much mobility and spent a lot of time reading in the front room (the living room, now the bedroom). As this entity did not interact with the SPIRITS' equipment or sensitives, it is possible that she is just a place memory.
The current occupants of the home also include a young boy (approximately 8 years old), who was not present for the investigation. His mother did say that her son did not like to be alone in the second bedroom (which he shares with his mother). The boy had also mentioned seeing someone, like a shadow, in the second bedroom and in the bathroom. The mother wondered if he had an active imagination, as no one in the house saw these images. The area in question does have high EMF (7 mG on average) so it could be that the EMF is causing more stress on the boy than the adults.
This leads to other questions. Can a residue energy re-emerge after the house is settled? Does the energy of reconstruction actually cause distraction from the energy? Why did the old woman appear briefly and then vanish? Perhaps Orangewood will need additional rechecks to answer these questions. In the meantime, the project was a worthy one that leaves the mind to ponder the never-ending mysteries of the otherworld. The cleansing included going through the house and praying over each room. Blessed oil was used to mark crosses over every door and every window. The EMF meter showed no response and, admittedly, the home felt quite different once the cleansing was done. Since that time, no other manifestations have been reported. However, the home owner also stated that she was going to avoid returning to the location where we believe that she picked up this spectral hitchhiker.

Homeowners: The house was bought in 1989 for the homeowner's mother. After that, she used it as a rental property. She lived in it for 1- 2 years.
Conclusion: Nothing present. No real sense of anything. House being a rental may be a problem....no one attached to the home.
Recheck: We went back into Room 1 (to replicate orbs by scarecrow), room 3. We did do EVPs, and I did get orbs in the fan area.
Homeowners: Knew that the owner of the house next door died of a massive heart attack at the age of 37.
Recheck 2: 2-4-07, Noon.
Homeowner got a very fast turn around for the construction at the house. She suggested we get out there ASAP for the construction phase. One wall had been taken down and another wall started (frame put up).
I was late getting there (got lost). The others started before me. When I arrived, I brought my CO detector, temp reader, EMF meter and the Polaroid.
EMF: Room 1: 15 - 20. Evie reported a spike when she first got there. As i stood with my meter, the energy in the room went up. It was a slow and steady increase,likely due to EM produced by the wires directly outside the house. The spot also resided between two plugs. Asked for a reaction from anyone present; no response.
Polaroid taken in the area. Camera jammed then produced two images at once (it had been dropped). Camera still worked, but Polaroids proved to be null.
EMF for Room 2: 10
EMF for Room 3/Kitchen: 8 - 10
EMF for Room 4: 7
Temp through house: 58 degrees consistently.
EMF lower (fewer electronics on).

VERY high EMF at this location. EMF was between a 7 and a 9 on the Paranormal Puck.

Got dizzy walking into the second bedroom. I think that it was because of the high EMF and the slanted floors.

House was built in 1948. Possibly not originally a house; this needs to be researched. Wondering if this could be a half lot, odd garage conversion, or some sort of guest house.

This was a control house. Third investigation of the location. We need to find out what the little boy feels is in the location, or if the occupants are subject to higher levels of EMF.
